The best way to photograph children
is by letting them be children, on their
terms, in their way. This child was
dress up clothes and I just let her
be herself. By doing this, I was able
to capture the child's personality in a
way that posing would have never
worked. Children are by far the
easiest subject because they don't
care how they look in photographs,
so the real child comes through. It
is always advantageous to bring toys
or dress up clothes for the child to play
with in order to get them to be
who they are. Kids are always fun.
Except when the run around and try
and destroy the studio.
